What is Polyethylene (PE) and how is it processed?

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic material widely used in the production of plastic products and components. It is a synthetic material obtained through the polymerization of ethylene, a colorless and flammable gas. Thanks to its properties, polyethylene is used in a broad range of industrial and commercial applications.

In addition, polyethylene is recyclable and cost-effective, making it particularly popular in mass production and industrial manufacturing.

Polyethylene is a plastic material widely used in many industrial sectors. To fully exploit its mechanical properties, specific machining operations are required. Mechanical processing of polyethylene can be carried out using various techniques, such as milling, drilling and turning. It is important to note that during mechanical machining of polyethylene, particular attention must be paid to temperature, as overheating may alter the material’s properties.
